Yoga For Men: Happy Hour Boot Camp

Seattle’s premier location for men’s yoga refuses to let you stay flabby in 2012.

Since the opening of Lululemon‘s flagship store, stylish yogis everywhere have lined the streets to grab the latest and greatest skin-tight leggings and colorful yoga mats. Armed with all the essentials and a fresh New Year’s resolution, women march off to their yoga classes to get fit and get spiritual. But wait…yoga is about so much more than trendy hoodies — and, as it turns out, it’s not only for women.

The Yoga Den provides an excellent space for men to practice yoga and benefit from the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of this discipline. You’ll tone and strengthen muscles you didn’t even know existed as your posture and flexibility are improved through breathing exercises and meditative techniques. Yoga relaxes the mind and relieves stress, as well.

The Yoga Den currently offers an extra manly set of classes in the form of Yoga Boot Camp. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, men can trade their end-of-the-week libation for an invigorating, hour-long workout to help start off the weekend on the right foot. Or left hand, depending on the position they choose. This five-week series focuses on a different strengthening practice every week; tickets ($65) are available online.

Does clothing restrict your meditative process? If so, the studio also offers nude classes to free your body and mind in a much more tangible sense. Naturally, these classes are for men only.

About Taylor Moore

Born in Farmville, Virginia (much cooler than the Facebook game), but raised in Olympia, Taylor graduated from University of Washington with a B.A in Communications and Sociology. She’s a major foodie and loves trying new restaurants and new food, and is also passionate about traveling the globe — just like her idol, Anthony Bourdain. When she’s not writing, eating, lustfully wandering Nordstrom or J. Crew, or looking up cat videos on YouTube, you might find Taylor jet-setting around to sunnier skies whenever she gets the opportunity.
