What’s Hot: Neon Trees

Don’t miss the American alternative-rock sensation as they rock their way into Seattle.

Neon Trees, a small energetic band from Provo, Utah, has taken the music industry by storm in recent years.  You’ve probably caught yourself singing along to their hit song “Everybody Talks” on the radio throughout the last few weeks.

In 2008, they were chosen to play in opening slots for the Killers Day & Age tour and received nationwide exposure.  After the tour they signed a record deal with Mercury Records, and in 2010 their first single “Animal” climbed to #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Alternative Rock chart.

Neon Trees began in 2005 when California neighbors Tyler Glenn (lead vocalist and keyboardist), and Chris Allen (guitarist) moved to Utah.  The original band also had three other band mates from Utah, but dwindled down to just Glen and Allen until Branden Campbell (bass) and Elaine Bradley (drummer and backup vocalist) joined in 2007.

The fun and creative name of their band comes from the lighted trees on the In-N-Out Burger signs, which Glenn liked growing up in California.  After Campbell joined the band in 2007, it was learned that Campbell’s father helped design the neon lights on the In-N-Out Burger signs.
