The Radar: Socks Seeking Stylish and Charitable Owners

Skyline Socks will outfit you with your new favorite pair of toe warmers.

What’s a person to do without socks? Sure, there are a couple months out of the year that we get to forgo this jilted article of clothing in favor of flip-flops, Chacos, or strappy sandals, but for the other ten months they’re actually pretty useful.

Often overlooked, socks could be considered a mundane piece of clothing not worthy of expense or style. Skyline Socks has proved that socks can be just as stylish, unique and desirable as a t-shirt, shoes, or pair of jeans. They have created a high-quality product that not only looks good but also does some good for the community.

Printed with the iconic skylines of major U.S cities, socks are currently made for Seattle, San Francisco and New York. With each pair of Skyline Socks sold ($12), one pair of new socks will be donated to someone in need in that city.

It isn’t every day you come across comfortable socks with an original design that help you show off the cities you love.  Even more unique are socks that provide support for someone in need.  Most would consider socks a basic necessity–but for many they are a luxury.

Skyline Socks has set a lofty but not unattainable goal of donating 1,000,000 socks. You can do your part by donning a pair and representing the Seattle skyline wherever and whenever possible. It is important to keep in mind, however, that Skyline Socks does not condone wearing their socks with sandals.

About Taylor Moore

Born in Farmville, Virginia (much cooler than the Facebook game), but raised in Olympia, Taylor graduated from University of Washington with a B.A in Communications and Sociology. She’s a major foodie and loves trying new restaurants and new food, and is also passionate about traveling the globe — just like her idol, Anthony Bourdain. When she’s not writing, eating, lustfully wandering Nordstrom or J. Crew, or looking up cat videos on YouTube, you might find Taylor jet-setting around to sunnier skies whenever she gets the opportunity.
