The Radar: Belly Up to the (Pure) Barre in Capitol Hill

It’s no secret I have a love affair with the barre. No secret at all. See the evidence here, here and here. Well, Seattleites, you too can fall in love beginning January 4, 2014. Capitol Hill, better-known for its other kind of bars, is about to welcome Pure Barre to the neighborhood.

Pure Barre

Lift.Tone.Burn

Sami and Brandon Sweeney and their talented team of teachers are opening their fourth Seattle-area location in three years in the new year. Capitol Hill joins the Queen Anne, U-District and Bellevue neighborhood studios. Sami, a Pure Barre master teacher trainer known for her killer classes, opened the first Washington-based Pure Barre in 2010 after wanting to bring the revolutionary technique to her Northwest roots and has since garnered quite the fervent following.

Pure Barre Capitol Hill

Sami and Brandon Sweeney | Pure Barre Capitol Hill is coming January 4, 2014!

Pure Barre is a total-body workout that promises to lift the seat, tone the thighs, abs, and arms, and burn fat in intense 55-minute sessions that fuse elements of ballet, Pilates and weights. The classes are accessible for all ages — men and women — and fitness levels because of its low impact, high-results formula — not to mention the genuinely caring and cool teachers.

Pure Barre Capitol Hill will feature 1,900 square feet of space for multiple daily classes with a capacity for 28 students per class and — importantly — free parking in the Collins On Pine parking garage (where the studio is located).

With the other studios frequently at capacity with waiting lists in the double-digits (see “fervent following” above), this newest location couldn’t come soon enough. And that it’s opening the first weekend of January is fuel for all of those “get fit” new year’s resolutions.

The first class is free for new students and if you join before January 10, you can even participate in Pure Barre’s own New Year’s Challenge:

Complete 50 classes in 60 days from January 10 – March 20, 2014 and win a prize pack including a 10-class punch card to Pure Barre ($200).

Classes will be seven days a week, morning, noon and evening, to fit all schedules. Belly up!

About Michelle Strub

As a Seattleite since one month after birth Michelle is, naturally, a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in Communications. She also has her M.B.A. from somewhere that doesn’t matter since it’s not in Seattle. If inquiring minds really want to know, Texas A&M. Michelle previously worked in the fashion industry but now finds her day job is getting paid to watch TV. When she’s not otherwise out for a run she’s exploring the city and all its rain-drenched nooks and crannies while wearing her North Face fleece. Just joking about that last part. Michelle doesn’t own any fleece. Strike up a conversation with her on Twitter @michellestrub.
