First look: Capitol Hill’s Wanderfish Poké
Chef-driven menu, sustainable fish, and organic produce. Joining a growing number of Seattle area poké establishments, Wanderfish Poké opened Monday, with a slightly different point of view. Located in Capitol Hill, across from Seattle Central College, offers an expanded, modern take on the classic Hawaiian raw fish over rice dish including: extensive options to customize, the use of sustainable and wild caught fish, locally grown produce and scratch-made ingredients.   (more…)

Restaurant Radar: Ian’s Pizza in Capitol Hill
Madison’s quintessential pizza is now available on the hill. Ian’s Pizza on the Hill opened last fall and offers pizza by the slice, whole pies, delivery, and beer and wine. Located in Zpizza’s old location on Broadway, this smaller chain or “pizza collective” from Madison, Wisconsin is taking familiar ingredients—not commonly used as toppings—and creating new and delicious pizzas. They also offer gluten-free and vegan options. (more…)

Restaurant Radar: Bar Melusine, Girin, Salare
Hot new restaurants that should be on your radar this spring. I’ve been eating my way around Seattle and these are my favorites right now. Bar Melusine in Capitol Hill, Girin in Pioneer Square, and Salare in Ravenna need to be at the top of your restaurant list. They opened within the last year and they are doing things right. Each offers a different cuisine, and all of them have tasty, flavorful food, wonderful service, and a beautiful space. (more…)

Food Porn: Weekend Brunch at Super Six
Super Six is inspired by its location in a former auto body shop on Hudson Street in Columbia City. It’s the sixth concept by the Marination team, which includes Marination’s food truck Big Blue, Marination Station, Marination ma kai (on Alki Beach—my favorite Marination concept), Marination catering, and their home base commissary. Along with a full cocktail bar and beer garden, the menu at Super Six focuses on Asian flavors complementing American comfort food and Pacific Northwest staples. Food Porn: Goldfinch Tavern at Four Seasons
Located in the Four Seasons downtown with a view of the Seattle Great Wheel and Elliot Bay, Goldfinch Tavern has a prime location. The atmosphere is classy and ideal for date night or an intimate dinner with friends and family. In our experience, hotel restaurants can be hit or miss, but we came with slightly higher expectations since Goldfinch is a partnership with Ethan Stowell restaurants complimented by Four Seasons service. Food Porn: Brunch at Bramling Cross
Bramling Cross is the newest edition to Ethan Stowell’s restaurant empire, clocking in at number twelve. This American gastropub opened in October and is located in the heart of Ballard. Bramling Cross offers over 50 bottled beers and ciders and 8 draught selections that are always local, some from down the street. We came for brunch on a chilly Saturday morning, about 15 minutes after they opened. No reservations were needed at 10:15 am, but by 11:30 am, it had started to fill up. (more…)

Bell + Whete welcomes Jenny Izaguirre (ease-uh-ghee-ray) as their new Executive Chef. Jenny is replacing Stew Navarre, who will be focusing on sister restaurant Local 360, with occasional collaborations at Bell + Whete. On top of being a talented chef, Jenny has a dynamic, warm personality and a fierce passion for food. She hails from Honduras and is a CIA graduate with nearly 10 years under her belt at various Four Seasons properties around the country. She speaks fluent Spanish, English and basic French and Turkish. We had the pleasure to hang out with Jenny and try some of her dishes last week. (more…)
