Summer Block Party In Sorrento Piazza

The historic boutique hotel is the venue for this festive July event.

Set your alarms for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13. As revelers fill Sorrento Piazza, consuming sinful amounts of gourmet food and swaying to live steel drum jams, summer will have truly arrived — rain or shine. The Sorrento Block Party may provide one of the most relaxing, fun-filled evenings of your sunny season — and best of all, it’s free to the public.

All guests of the party will be well-fed. Tasty snacks and good libations will be prepared, courtesy of Ivan Szilak, Executive Chef at the Hunt Club — a neighborhood mainstay for fine cuisine that is located inside the hotel. Edible options will include Prime Rib Sliders, Fried Polenta and Pork Devils. To wash the tasty food down, guests may choose from Red Hook ESB, Alaskan Amber, Pyramid Curveball and Ranger IPA.

As a special treat, attendees may enjoy the versatile style of musician Ian Dobson. This exciting performance incorporates many aspects of Caribbean culture, such as stilt-walking, traditional dances and — of course — the cool sounds of the steel drum percussion.

A prominent resident of the historic First Hill neighborhood, the Sorrento Hotel has been a popular establishment among Seattleites for more than 100 years. Sorrento staff are well-known for providing personalized service to hotel guests — and the rich interior decor only adds to the warm welcome. Locals can also enjoy the Sorrento, either with a fine meal at the Hunt Club or a glass of Northwest wine in the Fireside Room.
