Shape Up For The Season At Willows Lodge

Fireside Cellars wants to lend you a holiday hand.

Comedian Maria Bamford, also known as “Crazy Target Lady,” manically embodies one tip for the holiday shopping season that kicked off last Friday — participants must be fit, fixated and freaking into it. Beyond the shopping and the party-going, the holidays often require a steady pace of preparedness. One misstep could end in a misshapen gingerbread house, a cranberry cocktail gone sour or even ::gasp:: an accidentally charred bird.

Thankfully, for the “festively lopsided,” Woodinville’s Willows Lodge has brought back an annual tradition — Holiday Boot Camp. The weekly series features food and beverage classes aimed to aid in the navigation of the season’s entertainment challenges. The lodge rolls out an all-star line-up from the Barking Frog to give pointers about flawless seasonal cocktails, appetizers, wine pairings and sweets.

Hosted by Fireside Cellars at Willows Lodge, the first boot camp kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Guests will receive recipe cards and samples of the items made during each class.

Executive Chef Bobby Moore begins the first class by coaching his rookie kitchen jocks through an appetizer round. Pastry Chef Matt Kelley takes over the following week (Wednesday, Dec. 7) to focus on the sweet-tooth, and the third class (Wednesday, Dec. 14) features a look at libations with Barking Frog’s Restaurant and Wine Managers, Matthew Davis and Jennifer Schmitt.

Located in the heart of Woodinville’s wine country, Willows Lodge offers 84 lavish guestrooms, a full-service spa and regional cuisine courtesy of Barking Frog. As a bonus, the lodge is within walking distance to number of local wineries.

The Holiday Boot Camp classes is complimentary and seated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Roll over those Black Friday elbow jabs and make way to Willows Lodge to shape up for the holidays.
