Celebrate Chinese New Year with a gin and kumquat elixir from the Far East.

Crave Factor:

Mi-Suk Ahn — BOKA’s bar manager and well-known Seattle mixologist — created the Golden Dragon cocktail by combining classic ingredients with new techniques. Hibiscus-infused vermouth (rather than traditional dry vermouth) and a sharp juniper flavor fully enhances this sweet libation, which is topped off with a sliced kumquat.

The Not So Secret Recipe:

  • 1 ½ ounces Hendrick’s Gin
  • 1 ounce Hibiscus-infused Noilly Prat sweet Vermouth
  • 2 drops Scrappy’s orange bitters

Lightly stir ingredients together.  Serve in a martini glass garnished with kumquat.

Fun Fact:

According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2012 is the year of the Dragon — hence the name of the cocktail. Gan bei!
