Lucky Santo Opens Wednesday January 9th in Ballard’s Sunset Hill Neighborhood

An inclusive & vibrant food haven in a fun, casual atmosphere

Lucky Santo is officially open for service on January 9th, 2019. The neighborhood restaurant offers a counter service-casual vibe, practical but fun wine program & take-away case, all while catering to serving vibrant, conscience foods at the top of the Golden Garden’s stair climb.

While Chef de Cuisine at Stoneburner, Chef Nikki DeGidio discovered her own severe food allergies, including celiac, dairy, and soy intolerances. Now she’s turning her personal experiences working through these setbacks into recipes that draw from her understanding of how food can heal and nourish as well as taste great.

The restaurant will seat 45, including space on the back patio. Diners can expect counter service, a relaxed atmosphere, and food that draws from DeGidio’s diverse food background and skills honed in kitchens, including six years at Campagne and six at Bastille and Stoneburner.

Smoothie lovers can look forward to a long list of hearty, fresh choices—including a nod to former head shop space occupant The Gob Shoppe which includes hemp milk—and add-ons like nut butter and bee pollen.

The lunch and dinner menu features highlights like a veggie noodle spin on chicken pho, infused with flavors DeGidio experienced while traveling in Vietnam.

Families will find the restaurant’s grab-and-go efforts especially appealing, as there will be an extensive selection of main dishes and sides from the normal menu that can be picked up to heat at home and please the whole family.

Also sharing his expertise in Lucky Santo is James Lechner, Beverage Director of Bastille and Stoneburner, who will write the wine list featuring organic, natural wines. Gluten-free beers will also make up a portion of the beverage menu.

The restaurant will be open for brunch, lunch and dinner, with hours from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm weekdays and 8:00 am – 8:00 pm on weekends. Menus will be absent of allergens including dairy, grains, legumes, refined sugar, soy and canola oil (unless otherwise noted).

About the name: Lucky Santo

A dog lover since birth, Nikki was inspired to name the restaurant after two of her best canine friends: Lucky and Santo. The name came to DeGidio one day, who says it feels happy and fun, which is the vibe she hopes the restaurant will emulate.
