Henry’s Tavern Opens Third Seattle Area Location in South Lake Union

Henry’s Tavern, an upscale tavern-inspired bar and restaurant, recently opened a new location in SLU at 501 Fairview Avenue N. Henry’s Tavern first opened in Seattle in 2013 with its SoDo location that quickly established itself as a local favorite and a game day destination. This will be the third Henry’s Tavern in the Seattle-area following the opening of Henry’s in Bellevue downtown this summer.

Henry’s operates with a dining experience that is elevated yet unpretentious, and a menu that is artisanal yet approachable. Guests can enjoy the bar area with two lounge spaces and restaurant seating, including semi-private dining. You can get 32 oz. growlers to-go and enjoy entertainment such as shuffleboard and 16 state-of-the-art TVs that are perfect for game days.

Open for breakfast and lunch, the grab & go counter serves coffee, sodas, juice and water alongside snacks such as energy bars and yogurt. More substantial bites include the pear, walnut and prosciutto salad, protein power bowl or crab and avocado roll.

The Waffles Fries come in three flavors, Gorgonzola, Chili & Cheese, and Buffalo. I tried the gorgonzola and chili & cheese, but after two bites, the toppings made the fries soggy and were too overpowering to enjoy. Next up, I tried the Classic Spicy Buffalo Wings. These were good!

We also sampled mini-versions of the Mac & Cheese Burger and the Peanut Buster BurgerThe Crab & Avocado Sushi Roll was out of place and not done well. I feel like it was something I could have purchased at a grocery store. The Buffalo Trace Manhattan and the Basil Gimlet were our favorite cocktails of the evening.

The most standout dishes were our dessert items. We tried the Ice Cream Sandwich and Cinnamon Apple Donuts, and both were incredible. The sandwich is unlike any ice cream sandwich I’ve had before, with decadent housemade chocolate fully encasing a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The donuts were crispy, warm, and fluffy—a surprise, as they are gluten free!

Henry’s Tavern is pouring from 50 taps with a rotating selection of local, regional and international beers. Choices encompass everything from hard ciders, lagers and pilsners to IPAs, wheats and stouts. Henry’s Tavern loves craft beer as much as it loves craft cocktails like the basil gimlet or elderflower greyhound. The happy hour menu features 10 plates priced between $5 and $8 with three burgers priced at $9.
