Guzzle your way to Belgianfest 2012

Raise your glass and toast classic Belgian tastes with a Washington twist.

“Beerfest” applauded the stellar brews and drinking prowess of Germans.  But on Saturday, February 4, the brewers invite Seattleites to leave their quarters and guzzling mindset at home and replace “das boot” with glasses of some of Washington State’s finest Belgian beers at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center.

Welcome, ladies and gents, to Belgianfest 2012.

Though famed Belgian beer, Stella Artois will likely not be making an appearance, these Washington State breweries will feature over 60 Belgian-style craft beers, infusing traditional Triples, Dubbles, Saisons, Wits, Abbeys, and Lambis with their own Washington twist for our tasting enjoyment.  Well-known Seattle-based breweries such as Georgetown Brewing, Elysian Brewing Company, Hale’s Ales will be making an appearance at the third annual Belgianfest, as well as other Washington State brew houses such as Snipes Mountain Brewing (Sunnyside), Sound Brewery (Poulsbo), and Paradise Creek Brewery (Pullman).

With admission, each attendee will receive a 4 oz. glass to try up to 10 different beers of their choice throughout the day.  Those who are WAshington Beer Lover (WABL) members can also enjoy extra perks including two bonus tokens to try two more tasty Belgian brews, and an opportunity to taste an exclusive beer brewed by Tacoma’s own Wingman Brewers.

So whether you’re celebrating your Belgian heritage or your love of unique, flavor-packed Belgian beer (or just delicious brews in general), Belgianfest 2012 awaits – no training required.

Tickets: $30 in advance; $35 at door

Time: 1st session — 12PM – 4PM; 2nd session — 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM

About Lena Park

Born in Buffalo, raised in Federal Way, and educated at Boston College, Lena has been exploring cities from coast to coast her whole life. Though she desperately misses the snarky irreverence of Bostonians, she loves living in this green and rainy city again as a bona fide Seattleite. In the years that she’s been gone from the Pacific Northwest, Lena has been busy writing for sports blogs, literary journals, college newspapers, and social justice-based magazines. When she’s not hunting for a hole-in-the-wall neighborhood joint, furiously scribbling in her notebook, or busy clacking away at her computer, Lena finds Zen in playing baseball with the Seattle Diamonds, sipping on a PBR at Lottie’s, and watching reruns of Friday Night Lights while drooling over sinfully delicious Tim Riggins.
