Food Porn: Le Rêve Bakery

A little bit of Paris on Queen Anne hill.

In this edition of Food Porn, we feature Le Rêve Bakery, owned and operated by the wonderfully kind and friendly Andrea Nakata since 2011. With French flair and a warm and inviting atmosphere,
Le Rêve has become a gathering place for the community for book club meetings, catching up with friends, and even French conversation club.

From traditional French pastries like Double-Baked Almond Croissants to Lemon Meringue Tarts, Napoleons and Fresh Fruit Tarts, the bakers at Le Rêve work around the clock, baking everything from scratch and in-house. While everything is delectable, the Kouign Amann (pronounced queen-ya-mahn) is my favorite. A caramelized and crispy exterior and an impossibly buttery and flaky croissant-like interior, it is positively to-die-for.

Even better? Ask to get it heated.

For a savory breakfast, order the Le Rêve Breakfast Roll with lettuce, tomato, bacon, gruyere cheese and topped with a fried egg on a soft and buttery brioche roll. Croque Monsieur with Jambon ham, gruyere cheese with Dijon mustard on baguette is great for lunch as well as their selection of seasonal soups — Fire-Roasted Tomato Bisque, Yellow Split Pea, Roasted Acorn Squash, or Broccoli-Leek.

Open daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Bring a book, bring a friend, visit soon, and visit often.
