Food Porn: Agrodolce

Casual Southern Italian cuisine in Fremont.

In this edition of Food Porn, we feature Agrodolce, James Beard award winning chef, Maria Hines’ newest restaurant that opened late last year. The atmosphere is charming with beautiful pieces of local artwork and gourmet organic food.

Fresh Black Mission Figs with arugula and burrata was fresh, but a bit muddled in flavors. The Arancini with english pea, tarragon, and a melty mozzarella center had a bit too much breading.

All the pastas and focaccia breads are made in-house and gluten-free options are also available. The Bucatini with sardines, pine nuts, and golden raisins and the Cavatelli with morel, English peas, and gremolota are made in house. The Cavatelli was the favorite of the two — the pasta was perfectly cooked with a bit of a bite and the hint of citrus made this a well-balanced and satisfying dish.

The Dakota Beef Hangar Steak with pesto and fingerling potatoes is nicely cooked and the well-seasoned, but a small portion for $26. For dessert, the Rice Pudding Fritters with citrus honey caramel dipping sauce are crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The Limoncello Sorbetto topped with candied fennel is zesty, sweet, and icy, making it the perfect finale to the meal.

Agrodolce is open for dinner Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Lunch is served Monday through Friday 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and Brunch on Saturday and Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
