Catch the View at Water’s Table in Renton

I’m always on the lookout for the best patio in Seattle. While I tend to avoid hotel restaurants—a somewhat unfounded bias I can’t seem to drop—I had to check out the new lakefront kitchen and bar boasting the best Lake Washington waterfront dining and cocktails.

On the mezzanine level of the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, Water’s Table offers 50+ outdoor covered waterfront seats (and another 170+ indoor view seats). The northward exposure captures everything from Mercer Island to the Seattle skyline and the distant Olympic Mountains. Of course, there’s also an expansive lake view.

Looking for an elegant date night spot, my partner and headed south for dinner at Water’s Table. The first thing I noticed was the incredible attention of the staff. We were immediately greeted and led to a table where our drink order was promptly taken.

Bonus: One of our favorite breweries, Lowercase Brewing, makes a beer specially for Water’s Table, aptly named Water’s Table American Light Lager. We enjoyed sipping on the lager and the Sangria.

Food highlights include the Cambell River Salmon with Walla Walla onion juniper soubise, sautéed pea vines, and garlic morels. We also enjoyed the Korean Kalbi Short Rib with kimchi chimichurri truffle-cauliflower puree, and crispy parsnip. Both dishes offered a variety of flavors and the meat was cooked exactly how we requested it.

Additionally, we tried the Local Oysters and Pork Dumplings, but unfortunately these both missed the mark for us. The dumplings were supposed to be steamed, but they were hard on the outside and had cooled off inside, while the local oysters had started to warm to room temperature and lacked flavor.

However, my favorite dish of the night was the last dish: Ube Cheesecake

All in all, we enjoyed our meal at Water’s Table thanks to the incredible staff and the views. Next time I’ll just stick to the bar menu, which boasts reasonably priced bites like Grilled Kimcheese and Boom Boom Shrimp, plus lots of cocktails to sip on while you take in the sunset.
