Get through hump day with some high energy beats from this local band!
It’s not often a band emerges with a style that has the ability to pleasure audiences of various musical tastes and backgrounds. Learning Team, a Bellingham-based quintet, will lure you in with their captivating choruses and upbeat performance – ensuring a night full of joy!
With two impressive EPs under their belt, Learning Team spent the summer of 2011 recording their third EP, “Daypack” – currently available on bandcamp – on which Emile Panerio, the band’s lead vocalist, said they “transitioned from a folk band to a collective pop sound.”
The band’s peers have compared Learning Team’s indie-folk-rock sound to Ra Ra Riot and Young the Giant. Though the band draws influences from many musicians, particularly larger bands, such as Built to Spill and Tokyo Police Club. However, Learning Team’s unique fusion of keyboard, electric guitar, banjo and drums creates an interesting mix of pop and rock while maintaining a cohesion that makes them distinct within the indie music scene.
In this EP you will find the combination of Panerio’s reflective lyrics about love and angst mixed with a pop-folk rhythm – generating relatable songs with memorable choruses. The foot tappin’ fan favorite, “MLK,” will get you on your feet; while the fresh banjo line in the uplifting track, “Iced Coffee” will entice you. In short, Learning Team’s Daypack EP demonstrates the bands youthful promise, versatility, and continued growth.
