About Michelle Strub

As a Seattleite since one month after birth Michelle is, naturally, a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in Communications. She also has her M.B.A. from somewhere that doesn’t matter since it’s not in Seattle. If inquiring minds really want to know, Texas A&M. Michelle previously worked in the fashion industry but now finds her day job is getting paid to watch TV. When she’s not otherwise out for a run she’s exploring the city and all its rain-drenched nooks and crannies while wearing her North Face fleece. Just joking about that last part. Michelle doesn’t own any fleece. Strike up a conversation with her on Twitter @michellestrub.

The Radar: Sounds of Summer Concert Series
Summer is almost here! Temperatures are rising and the days are getting long with the sun setting well past 9 o’clock. For some of us–dealing with what to do with kids who insist that they absolutely need to stay up past their bedtime because there’s not even a remote chance they’d be able to get a wink of (more…)

The Radar: Pure Barre Does Green Lake
I was looking at my calendar the other day and I realized I haven’t experienced the burn of Pure Barre for almost six months. Six months! The dismay! Blame it on being a first-time working nursing mom, I guess, since doesn’t seem to be a shortage of Pure Barre locations across western Washington, that’s for sure.   And now, my everyone’s favorite ballet-based total body workout is creeping even further westward with dynamic duo Sami and Brandon Sweeney’s fifth location in four years coming to Green Lake–the Sweeney’s own ‘hood. The Radar: ROXY Rings in Spring 2014 (Yes, Already!)
Okay, so it’s still only January but that’s what this month of the new year is for, right? Ringing in our resolutions — for many of us that means pushing ourselves to the edge of fitness. Whether we’re charging up Rattlesnake Ridge, stretching into sun salutations in local studios, or paddling out over the still-frigid PNW waters, we’re living to be outside channeling the strength that comes with movement. (more…)

The Radar: Belly Up to the (Pure) Barre in Capitol Hill
It’s no secret I have a love affair with the barre. No secret at all. See the evidence here, here and here. Well, Seattleites, you too can fall in love beginning January 4, 2014. Capitol Hill, better-known for its other kind of bars, is about to welcome Pure Barre to the neighborhood. (more…)

Sweat Seattle: Pure Barre for Preggos
“Well you sure have a type, don’t you?” Brandon, the devilishly handsome husband of Sami, co-owner and sometimes-front desk substitute of Pure Barre Seattle, is checking me in. It took me a second to realize what he was referring to. (more…)
