Check em Out: The Naked and Famous began as a meetcute between composer/writer Thom Powers and lyricist Alisa Xayalith at music school back in 2008. The two New Zealanders were approached by a few independent labels after feverishly sending electro pop demos around town and recruited three other Aucklandites to perform live around the country. Check ‘em Out: Who is Miike Snow? DJ. Electronica. Wizard. Jackolope. Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, two Swedish dudes hooked on creating beats teamed up with American Andrew Watts back in 2000 to work on someone else’s pop album.
